- on Palestinians to proceed with UN recognition bid 11 minutes agoWell, after watching Nattyahoo b*itch-slap the President of the United States of America in public, the Palestinians can see that the USA is powerless to make anything happen in the region. So UN recognition becomes like chicken soup: may not help, but it couldn't hurt.
- Kanazawa may be guilty of bad science - a serious crime in my view - but so are most of his critics, who blast him because of his conclusions, rather than because of the methods use to reach them. One gets the impression that, were it to prove true that black women ARE universally perceived less attractive and black men more attractive than their white counterparts, then God would be accused of racism for allowing this to be the case.
- on Boris to present President with 34 minutes agoAh, Boris. Ever the clown.
- on Clarke survives after offering clarification yesterdayWell of course he was wrong. There is only one kind of rape. A stranger breaking into a house and forcing sex at knife-point is not different from consensual sex between an 18-year-old and a 15-year old or consensual juvenile sex when one partner changes their story after the parents find out. These three are identical crimes and deserve identical punishment.
PS: Clarke is also saying "prisons don't work"? Wow, two cases of telling the truth in a row. If he tells one more uncomfortable truth, he is finished.
- Well, pandering to hoi polloi is just so much easier, innit?

- “We should stop punishing innocent young people for the actions of their parents,” This is simply not logical: it implies that all citizens in non-US countries are being punished.
By extension, we should have no border controls at all, since forcing innocent young people to live in Mexico or Haiti is a punishment.
- Ah yes, I remember the Prague Spring in 1968.
Didn't turn out well in the short run, but got better in the long run.
- Unlikely to deter any others, but certain to deter him.
- on 'Mummy, will I get fat?' 3 days agoIf your mummy is, yes. If you don't exercise, yes.
