Can We Now Learn the Real Lesson of Bin Laden's Death?

“Well partly true, Johann. The insurgents also oppose America because America supports the rule of law - an anathema to warlords, who support the rule of power - and because America supports evil and subversive ideas, like "people should be allowed to worship as they see fit" and "men and women should be treated equally."

Oh, yeah, and because the corrupt Afghan regime that America supports is no more or less thuggish than the insurgent leaders. General feeling is: if we are going to have a corrupt and tyrannical regime, it might as well be mine rather than yours

“Okay, now this is more believable: it wasn't the Pakistani intelligence, it was the drug dealers who were protecting him. They owe him big time for reducing competition in the opium/heroin trade.

“Graphic? What is graphic about these photos?
Do these people even know what the word "graphic" means? Apparently, they think graphic means "any picture with a dead body in it."

"I hope it also helps brings closure to this decade-long war."
Sadly, it will not and cannot. The war will go on, with the Taliban willing to kill anyone who disagrees with them - including with their interpretation of Islam and their institutionalised oppression of Afghan women.
We can decide whether the US will help in this war or not - but no action of our can end it.

Simple, really. We borrow 40% of every dollar we spend, so if we must cut spending by 40%, or raise revenue by 40%, or some combination in between (eg cut spending 20% and raise revenue 20%). Any other option will not solve the problem and anyone claiming that it will is either weasel-wording or deliberately lying, depending on whether he is from my party or your party.

Not just for-profit colleges, make ALL colleges responsible for government loans to their students. If the kid defaults, take the money back from the college.
That would give them an incentive to ensure their students get a decent job.
