Welfare can't be much worse

Is it time the benefits system was subject to a complete overhaul?

The current schemes pay an incentive to become dependent, to breed and to not contribute, so overhaul is long overdue. I like the sound of "work credit" rather than "unemployment benefit". On the other hand, "life credit" does not sound like a change - paying people to be alive seems the same old incentive to breed and do nothing.

So you'd have those not capable of work starve?

No one is incapable of work, unless they are beng fed through a tube. Some people may not be capable of work that pays them enough to live on and, if so, I am willing to subsidise the difference. They give a little, I give a little.
The only ones I would have starve are those who want a free ride. (Well, no, we all want a free ride sometimes - I'd let starve those who demand or think they have a right to a free ride.)
