Instead of resigning or carrying on without honour, Baroness Scotland might publicly start a campaign to repeal the law. I could get behind a minister who said: "Now that I see the effect of my law, I realise how stupid it is and how stupid I was to support its passage."

Let's see, wasn't the "I didn't know" defence used somewhere else? Poland, Russia, Germany?
