EU drops demand for ban on commercial bluefin tuna fishing
If we can make great money selling the last of our foodstocks to the Japanese, then who cares about the children.
Johann Hari: Collapse or survive: the stark choice facing our species
Sorry, Johann. If we can make a good profit on coal and bluefin tuna, why should we worry about species collapse? 1) It'll happen to someone else. 2) There are far too many people anyway, we can afford to lose 10 or 20%. 3) Very interesting technologies and social adaptations will develop to deal with a hundred million starving refugees: it'll be fun to watch. 4) Most of us are too busy blaming someone else for the problem; we've no time to do anything ourselves.
